We’re Building the MSK System That Should Have Existed All Along
Musculoskeletal care is broken. Despite being one of the most treatable and cost-effective conditions, MSK accounts for hundreds of billions in wasted spend, missed workdays, and unnecessary interventions every year. Patients are frustrated. Employers are overwhelmed. And physical therapists—the providers best positioned to help—have been pushed to the margins by a system that doesn’t value what they do.
We started Second Door to fix that.
A Decade in the Making
In 2013, Scott Hebert and Ryan Klepps co-founded Strive Labs to help physical therapists better engage and retain their patients. That product, now known as WebPT Reach, became the gold standard for patient engagement in rehab therapy—and helped thousands of clinics improve retention and outcomes. It also revealed a deeper truth: while volume and retention matter, the other half of the equation—payment per visit—was still broken.
After Strive Labs was acquired by WebPT in 2017, Scott and Ryan spent years working inside the system, listening, learning, and watching the gap between clinical value and financial reality grow wider. Physical therapy wasn’t being reimbursed fairly. Digital MSK companies were getting massive funding—but patients weren’t using them. And most of the tools designed to help clinics grow didn’t talk to each other.
Why Second Door
Second Door exists to address the full PT business equation: patient volume × visits per case × revenue per visit. We give practices the tools to grow smarter, diversify revenue, and get paid for the value they deliver.
The name comes from our core belief: that clinics should have more than one way to deliver quality care and get paid fairly—opening another entrance to their practice: a second door. One that doesn’t rely solely on traditional insurance to keep the lights on.
